Best Street Food in Salatiga: A Local's Guide
Salatiga might be small, but its street food scene is mighty. From Ronde to Sate Sapi, here is where I actually eat.
Restaurant Info
Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Salatiga
Salatiga is known as a retirement city, but for me, it’s a food paradise. The cool air makes everything taste better, especially warm street food.
1. Ronde Jago
This is legendary. It’s not just ginger water; it’s a hug in a bowl. Sitting on the small wooden benches, watching the old clock tick, it feels like time stopped in 1950.
2. Sate Sapi Suruh
The peanut sauce here is different—creamy, sweet, and spiced with cinnamon. I can easily eat 20 skewers without realizing it.
3. Gethuk Kethek
Perfect for snacks. It’s made from cassava but soft as a cloud. I usually buy a box for “friends” but end up eating half of it on the way home.
Pro Tip: The best food in Salatiga is found after 5 PM when the tents (warung tenda) start to open.
