Hidden Gem Warungs in Salatiga
No signboards, no Instagram ads. Just good food and a queue of locals who know better.
Restaurant Info
I love places that don’t try too hard. You know the ones—faded banners, plastic stools, but the smell stops you in your tracks.
1. Warung Ndeso
It’s literally in someone’s backyard. The menu is just whatever the ibu cooked that morning. Sayur Lodeh, Tempe Goreng, Sambal. Simple, but tastes like home comfort.
2. Soto ‘No Name’
It doesn’t have a name. We just call it “The Soto near the big tree”. Clear broth, absurdly generous beef slices, and it costs less than a dolor for a full bowl.
3. Bakso Balungan
Deep inside an alley. You get a bowl of soup with a massive beef bone to gnaw on. It’s primal, messy, and absolutely delicious.
Finding these places feels like unlocking a secret level in a game.
